Show Me State

Ahh, like a beacon in the storm, the promise of internet! (A great sign from yesterday)

So today wrapped up Illinois and I covered a lot of ground in Missouri. I think the initial excitement is over now and I'm getting my regular appetite and sleep patterns back. I downed about more than half a rotisserie chicken from the local Krogers last night and finished it up with some fruit.

The roads this morning in Illinois are more what I had expected and it was nice way to say adios to the "Land of Lincoln".

Down around <outrageous-french-accent>Cape Girardeau, MO</outrageous-french-accents> there was a lot of evidence of flooding. There were fields here and there still filled up with water and even through Missouri there were still signs of high water.

Crossed over the mighty Mississippi and landed in the Show-Me State.

Got out and riding on back roads and made covered some ground fairly quick. I mean, you can see how twisty and curvy these roads were..

Before I knew it I was in Poplar Bluff, MO enjoying a tasty Nutty Bar and water. Relaxed there for awhile, called home and got the ol' circulation flowing in my backside. In a short period of time, I've gotten conditioned to long periods in the saddle.

As a recommendation from my father, I took route 160 practically the entire way to Branson. Wow, what a road. I took over 20 minutes of video while I carved up the road. At first it was a nice relaxed pace and then I got in the zone and the speed just kept building. It was good to wear the rubber on the sides of the tire after all that straight road riding.

The road went on and on with big beautiful sweepers over beautiful terrain. I don't think any picture could truly have captured it. However, video can! There was one bad problem about the afternoon. Wind. It was worse than yesterday's. I didn't think that was possible.

Bugs are plentiful on the road.

Hey man...enjoy the journey, it's more important than the journey. Looks like you need some rain-x on that visor!

When they said "Free Wireless Internet" ... did they mean paper printouts of the cnn.com homepage?
