Well the trip is about to begin here (3 days) and it's time to start this journal. So I'll bore you with a little background and just some general thoughts.
For those that know me they know the huge part my motorcycles play in my life. It's been eight years now that I've been riding around on the roads. I'll never forget that moment I took my turn onto the street; it was an instant addiction. As I continued to ride I eventually wanted to travel on by motorcycle. After such great inspiration from the inmates over at ADVRider, I wanted to do it more and more.
Well four years ago I got the opportunity to go out for a week in the mountains in Montana. Not knowing what to expect, you tend pack everything but the kitchen sink.
Eventually you get smarter and learn to pack less and pack smart. Four years later an overloaded bike turns into this (man, it even changes colors...and shape?):
And so it begins. Bike is ready and eager as is the rider. That's not to say I don't have my own doubts and apprehensions, but I'm not going to let that get in way of this trip.
Next post...will be from on the road...

"Stripped of your ordinary surroundings, your friends, your daily routines, your refrigerator full of food, your closet full of clothes - with all this taken away, you are forced into direct experience. Such direct experience inevitably makes you aware of who it is that is having the experience. That's not always comfortable, but it is always invigorating."
- Michael Crichton
Good luck Paul ... Have a great time and we'll see you when you get back.

Oh my, that is a fine Vulcan Classic lurking in the background of the first picture!
Godspeed on your journey and be sure to document the chautauqua with plenty of pictures.
All the best, Paul. They say an odyssey such as this changes a man. Don't change too much :)
